Oriental salad, probably inspired by Turkish potato salad but very different from it, is one of the four popular Romanian salads (along with beef, eggplant and cabbage), an area in which, let's face it, we do not excel. Known in rural areas and under the sufficiently expressive name of potatoes-with-onions-and-with-oil, this salad appreciated especially in the cold season diversifies to a modest extent the meals of the fasting days. Crispy-creamy, sweet-sour and slightly spicy, the oriental fasting salad is a simple joy, available to anyone.

If you boil potatoes in their skins for a long time, you can keep them cold for 2-3 days and peel them when you want to make one of these great salads.

Fasting potato salad is normally made only with onion rings and sprinkled with oil and vinegar. My salad also brings colors to the plate: tomatoes, cucumbers, green onions. It is much healthier than the old version.

This recipe is suitable for a menu of Diet Rina & # 8211 day of starches (with potatoes).

Oriental salad (fasting)

-1. Wash the potatoes and boil them in their skins in salted water for 35-40 minutes. I take them out of the pot and place them on a wooden chopper to cool.

2. I clean them and cut them into cubes. Separately, cut the onion, garlic, cucumber and radish into thin slices. I wash the tomatoes, cut them in four and remove the seeds.

3. If the olives are too salty, put them in a bowl with cold water, leave them for 30 minutes (the time varies depending on how salty the olives are), wipe them and cut them into slices.

4. In a large bowl, place the potatoes, onions, garlic, cucumber slices, radishes, olives and tomatoes. Add freshly chopped parsley over the oriental salad and mix.

5. For the vinaigrette sauce, vigorously mix the olive oil with the vinegar and add a pinch of salt. Pour the sauce over the oriental salad, add freshly ground black pepper and mix. Serve immediately or leave it in the cold for a maximum of one hour. This salad can be served with a tender steak.


Oriental salad preparation

Peel the potatoes and boil them with a spoonful of salt. If they are large, you can cut them into 2 or 4.

Check if they are cooked with the tip of a fork. Potatoes are the basis of oriental salad so be careful not to boil them too much so that they do not crush, but not at all to be raw. After they have boiled, put them in a strainer and pour cold water over them.

Cut the red onion into juliennes, as well as the kapia pepper. Cut the green onion as small as possible.

In a bowl with a lid, put the potatoes when they are almost cold, add the chopped vegetables and olives.

Season with salt, pepper, oil and vinegar (or lemon). Put the lid on and mix well by turning the bowl upside down. Taste and if necessary, add the necessary spice.

Add chopped dill and mix again.

Oriental salad is ready, serve cold with possibly chopped green onions on top and a little more dill.

You can also put in oriental salad and boiled egg, mainly 1 kg of potatoes goes about 4-5 hard boiled eggs. Fresh kapia pepper can be replaced with donuts in vinegar, preferably donuts in vinegar with sugar to be a little sweet. If you cut the potatoes smaller, you can also make a more sour mayonnaise with a lot of lemon. If you want you can add a few slices of fried bacon.

We recommend the Oriental Fasting Salad to all those who have been fasting for over a year. It is a simple, fast and filling fasting recipe. It can also be prepared as a sweet recipe by adding boiled eggs to the ingredients.



Post Oriental Salad Ingredient:
4-5 potatoes
2 pickles
1 gogosar murat
1 piece medium onion
4 tablespoons sliced ​​olives
salt, pepper and oil (olive oil can also be used)

Oriental Fasting Salad Preparation:
Boil the potatoes in their skins in salted water. Then clean and cut the slices into a bowl. We cut the cucumbers into rounds or cubes, we do the same with the donut. Cut the onion into juliennes. In the bowl in which we put the chopped potatoes, add the donut, cucumbers, olives, onions and season everything with salt and pepper, then pour over about 50 ml of oil and mix everything by shaking the contents until the ingredients are mixed.
If you want to prepare this salad outside of fasting days, I recommend adding slices of boiled eggs.


Method of preparation

Wash, clean and boil the potatoes in salted water and a little vinegar (so as not to crumble the potatoes). Separately cut the peppers into sticks, julienned red onions, green onions, pickles.

Make a dressing from: olive oil, lemon juice. You can add thyme or whatever other spices you want.

If it was not fasting, you could add grated cheese or cheese, smoked fish, boiled eggs or pieces of bacon.


Steps

Boil the potatoes in a bowl with water and salt. After about half an hour, try with a fork, if the fork does not penetrate easily into the potato, leave it to boil. When they have boiled, drain the water and leave to cool.
Peel a squash, grate it and squeeze the juice.
Red onions are cut into scales, peppers and radishes.
Put in a bowl the potatoes, finely chopped green onions, red onions, red pepper to taste aroma and color, cars. Season with salt and pepper, pour 4-5 tablespoons of oil and a tablespoon of lemon juice and mix well. Garnish with spinach leaves and radish slices.

Oriental vegan salad & # 8211 The ideal fasting food

Oriental salad is one of the most popular and easiest dishes to make in Romanian cuisine. It is usually made with potatoes and boiled egg but you can make tasty food even with fasting ingredients.

Today I chose to make a fasting recipe, especially since it is the period of Orthodox fasting. You are probably looking for a fasting version for oriental salad, that's why you are on my recipe page.

It is an easy, quick recipe that you can prepare for lunch or dinner. You can enjoy a special taste even if it is vegan, if you know how to choose the ingredients and especially if you know how to put them all together.

Vegan oriental savory ingredient

To prepare this recipe, you need the following ingredients:

  • 5 medium-sized potatoes (boiled or baked, I prefer baked)
  • lettuce of any kind according to preferences
  • valerian, arugula, germs
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 grated carrot
  • 1 bunch of green onions or 1 dried onion (green onions taste better and look better)
  • 3 cucumbers (I prefer pickles)
  • 1 avocado
  • 3 ridichi
  • olive
  • 1 bunch of dill (you can use parsley, I prefer dill in oriental salad)
  • 1 squeezed lemon (if you don't put pickles)
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
  • salt never, to taste

Every ingredient is important

I recommend you to use salt never. It is true that in stores, you only find iodized salt. You can also find salt in the plafar and health food stores.

Iodized salt should be the exception and not the rule. I don't understand why everywhere, you only find iodized salt. How healthy or not iodized salt is remains a topic for another article.

If you do not have green onions, you can use dried onions. I recommend you to choose red onions to look better and you know how to say: & # 8221 we eat with our eyes & # 8221.

You can put any green or red bell peppers and even donuts. I like to use red peppers because it gives color and special appearance at the end.

The order of the ingredients

We finish the pickled olives and cucumbers after we have tasted the salad. We need to make sure we don't add too much salt. Keep in mind that olives can also be salty. You don't want to make it too salty, especially if you put pickled cucumbers.

You can use fresh cucumbers if you want. In this case, you need lemon juice to sour the salad at the end.

I like pickles very much so I always choose to put pickles. In addition to the delicious sour taste, pickles contain probiotics, so important for a healthy microbiome. In other words, they are good for digestion because they support healthy bacteria in the gut.

The best pickles are those that have undergone a fermentation process in brine, not vinegar. They are healthier and if you know how to make them they are really delicious.

Method of preparation:

You can boil the peeled potatoes in salted water or bake them in the oven.

I bake them in the oven. I like baked potatoes more than boiled ones.

From a nutritional point of view, it is advisable to cook the potatoes in a burger or put them in the oven.

Boiled potatoes lose a lot of nutrients. Better to drink the water in which they boiled the potatoes. There are more nutrients there than in boiled potatoes.

How do we prepare fasting potato salad?

While the potatoes are boiling, wash and prepare the rest of the ingredients, except for the onions. It oxidizes quickly and it is better to put it fresh in the salad.

Also, avocado must be cleaned at the end because it darkens quickly on contact with air.

Let the potatoes cool. We don't put them hot in the salad.

After the potatoes are ready, peel them and cut them into smaller pieces.

Mix the salad in a large bowl!

Put all the ingredients in a larger bowl so you can mix them easily.

Add salt first, then lemon and last olive oil.
Be careful, the way you mix and the order in which you put salt, lemon juice and olive oil is essential.

When you add salt, mix well. Then add the lemon and mix again. At the end add the oil and mix a little more.
You can enjoy oriental vegan salad next to a natural pomegranate juice, freshly squeezed.

Preparation time: 30-45 min.
