Planning Your Cocktail Party Menu

After you’ve chosen a cocktail party theme, you can begin to plan your menu. As the hostess, your goal should be to enjoy the cocktail party as much as your guests! Any good cocktail party includes plenty of conversation between the hostess and friends. Try serving a delicious array of hors d’oeuvres to spare yourself time in the kitchen. You can hire a few servers to offer guests hors d’oeuvres throughout the party to reduce your stress and keep the party going. Hors d’oeuvres and easy-to-grab eats are perfect for keeping guests satisfied while avoiding large messes and kitchen chaos. Additionally, serving smaller bites doesn’t mean you can’t be creative with food options. Here are a few tips for planning the perfect cocktail party menu:

5. Mix and Match Hors d’oeuvres

A cocktail party is your time to shine. Whether you’re cooking or hiring a chef, you should offer a variety of eats to make your cocktail party feel like an experience. All of your guests should leave your gathering having tried something new. Incorporate a diverse selection of petite dishes that each have different flavors and textures to craft a well-rounded party.

6. Load Up on Snacks

Although you’ll be offering savory and sweet hors d’oeuvres, do your best to place snacks at each table area that will last beyond the popular bites. Popular snacks include cheese and cracker trays, gourmet pretzel sticks, hummus, seasonal fruit, bread, popcorn, tortilla chips and salsa, spinach dip, and more. Guests will appreciate snack alternatives as the party comes to an end.

7. Offer Vegetarian Options

Vegetarians want to have a good time too! While you’re planning out your menu, take a moment to set aside Vegetarian-friendly options that are also savory. If you have spare budget, you can also plan out a few gluten-free and vegan bites so your party caters to all guests.

8. Prepare the Day Before

When you’re hosting a party, day-of problems and last-minute details are bound to happen. You can reduce stress by completing as much food prep as possible the day before. Purposely choose menu items that can be reheated or served cold to make use of designated food prep time.

How to Make Party Snack Recipes: Step by Step

The recipes for party snacks can be adapted with different fillings. For example, the stuffing of the coxinha can be chicken, pepperoni with catupiry cheese, ham and cheese, among others. It is possible to adapt the recipes for party snacks according to your personal taste, so we will teach you the basic recipes, but you can change the fillings.

For those who want to make the party sweets at home we have prepared a post with 40 delicious sweets tips and very easy recipes to make!

The coxinha is one of the most traditional recipes for party snacks. Although it takes time to do it is super easy. Let’s go to the ingredients:

  • 4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 4 cups of milk at room temperature
  • 1 chicken broth
  • 1/2 tablespoon of margarine
  • 1 chicken breast
  • salt
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 onion
  • Green smell to taste
  • Tomato Sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 200g of breadcrumbs

  1. Place the chicken breast in the pressure cooker, add salt and cover with water.
  2. Cook for 30 minutes.
  3. Take the pressure off. Let it cool and shred the chicken.
  4. Fry the finely chopped garlic and onion.
  5. Sauté the shredded chicken.
  6. Add the chopped green smell and the sauce. It is important to have a consistent filling.
  7. Now let’s make the dough. Boil the milk, the broth and the margarine.
  8. Put all the flour at once and stir constantly to avoid lumps.
  9. Place the dough on a smooth, clean surface. Knead still hot.
  10. Shape the drumsticks and stuff with the chicken.
  11. Dip in the egg and wheat flour.
  12. Fry in very hot oil.
SPECIAL TIP: Fry a few units at a time to avoid adding water and popping.

To make the coxinha even more tasty you can put curd or catupiry in the filling. Another option is to add a small piece of mozzarella to melt when you fry.

Kibe is one of the easiest party snack recipes to make.

  • 1 kg ground beef
  • 1 kg of wheat for kibe
  • 2 spoons of margarine
  • 2 chopped onions
  • salt
  • Black pepper
  • Mint

Although not common at birthday parties, kibe can also be served raw. Another healthy option is to bake the salty, the recipe is the same.

  1. Put the kibe wheat in a sauce overnight.
  2. Drain the water well with the help of a dish towel.
  3. Mix all the ingredients.
  4. Shape the kibe.
  5. Fry in hot oil.

Among the party savory recipes, esfirra is the most popular savory roast. It is very easy to make and it is delicious.

  • 30 g of biological yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 spoon of sugar
  • salt
  • 600 g of wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup of oil
  • 1 egg
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 3 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • green-scent
  • 3 seedless tomatoes
  • pepper to taste

  1. Let’s start by making the filling. Fry the garlic and onion in the hot oil.
  2. Sauté the meat and add salt.
  3. Add the pepper, the tomato and the green smell.
  4. Let it cook for minutes.
  5. Wait for it to cool to fill the sphera mass.
  6. For the dough, mix the yeast in the warm milk.
  7. Mix the milk with yeast and the flour.
  8. Expect to double in size.
  9. Add the oil and the egg.
  10. Mix until it comes off the hands.
  11. Knead the dough on a smooth, clean surface.
  12. Let the dough rest for an hour.
  13. Make small balls, open with the rolling pin and stuff with the ground meat.
  14. Place the savory on the baking sheet and brush the egg yolk to turn golden brown.
  15. Take it to the oven and let it bake for 40 minutes.
  16. This recipe yields about 40 spheres in the party size.

You can stuff the spheres with a stew of chicken or chicken. All the flavors are wonderful and it’s nice to vary.

Cheese ball

In the best party snacks recipes, we can’t leave out the cheese ball. This is the children’s favorite salty and is a hit at any party.

  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 cup of all purpose flour
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 tablespoon of margarine
  • 1 egg yolk
  • salt
  • diced mozzarella
  • Breadcrumbs
  • hot oil for frying

  1. Bring the yolk, salt, flour and milk to the fire.
  2. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon until it loosens from the bottom.
  3. Wait for it to cool down.
  4. Shape the ball and place the mozzarella cubes.
  5. Pass in the egg and the flour and donut.
  6. Fry in hot oil.

Do you want to know when the oil is hot enough to put the savory? Place a matchstick with the oil in the pan. When the toothpick lights it is a sign that it is already at the ideal temperature to receive the snacks.

Of the recipes for party snacks, the patty is the most difficult to make, both for execution and for the need to have aluminum pans.

  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 250g of margarine
  • 2 gems
  • salt
  • 1 spoon of baking powder.
  • 1 egg yolk to brush.
  • Stuffing just like the coxinha or to your taste.

  1. Mix butter, yeast, flour, yolk and salt.
  2. The point is a crumbly and crumbly mass.
  3. Line the bottom of the aluminum pan with the dough.
  4. Put the cold filling.
  5. Place the dough cap.
  6. Brush the egg yolk.
  7. Place in a preheated oven.
  8. Bake until golden brown.

SPECIAL TIP: As there is a lot of butter in the dough, it is not necessary to grease the pan for baking.

Sausage Roll

To make the rolled of parsley you can use the same recipes for salty snacks for the coxinha dough party or you can also prepare the one we are going to teach.

  • 3 cups of water
  • 2 cups and 1/2 all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • 1 seasoning sachet ready
  • salt to taste
  • 1kg of good quality sausage
  • 1 whole egg to bread
  • breadcrumbs

  1. Cut the sausages into three parts.
  2. Mix all ingredients except sausage, egg and breadcrumbs.
  3. Bring to the heat and stir constantly until it comes off the bottom of the pan.
  4. Spread margarine in your hands to avoid sticking and wrap the sausages with the dough.
  5. Pass the egg and breadcrumbs.
  6. Fry in very hot oil.

The sausage roll can also be baked, it is healthier and also very successful. To bake you can use the same recipe as the sphera dough and add mustard to the filling and straw potatoes on top to remind you of a hot dog.

The savory foods that will be fried can be frozen. That way you can do it little by little before the party and only fry it before serving. To freeze it is necessary to put it in a clean bag and remove all the air, this will prevent the formation of ice crystals.

Of course, in addition to the savory ones, the cake is very important, so we prepared a post with delicious models of truffle cake with complete step by step to make at home!
